Volunteer

Volunteers are critical to the success of The Iowa Children’s Museum. Adult and youth volunteer opportunities are available to accommodate a wide variety of interests and availabilities.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and pass a criminal record review. Approved volunteers will be asked to schedule a brief volunteer orientation at their convenience.

Volunteer Opportunities

Museum Exhibit Facilitator

Volunteers are needed to facilitate our many interactive exhibits. While volunteering “on the floor”, you will have the opportunity to interact with the museum visitors and help promote the importance of informal learning. Responsibilities include interacting with children and their families, assisting with the upkeep and cleaning of the museum exhibits, assisting museum staff with ongoing projects, and facilitating special programs. While volunteering at the museum, you will gain experience working in an informal learning environment, have the opportunity to work with a fun, energetic staff, and experience the power of a child’s smile to make your day.

Special Event Volunteers

Community volunteers help make our special events a success! Sign up to help with STEM Family Free Night, Superhero Nights, special Celebration Days and fundraisers. Volunteer opportunities are available in the museum and at off-site locations.

Museum Deep Cleaning

We need volunteers to help keep our facility clean and sanitized for our guests! These volunteer shifts take place Mondays between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

How do I sign up?

All interested volunteers please submit your contact information below. Once your information has been reviewed, you will be sent an email outlining instructions on volunteering at the Museum as well as a link to our calendar of events for shift selection.
