Looking for a fun place to serve your community? When you volunteer at The Iowa Children’s Museum, you help advance our mission and create a vibrant and engaging environment for kids to learn, grow, and explore!

Adult and youth volunteer opportunities are available to accommodate a wide variety of interests and availabilities. As an organization that values safety and trust, we require volunteers to be at least 14 years old and pass a criminal record review.

Volunteer Opportunities

In addition to the opportunities listed below, we also welcome community members to get involved with our mission at a higher level through board and committee participation.

Volunteer PLAYologists work and play “on the floor” of our museum and in our exhibit spaces. Responsibilities include interacting with children and their grown-ups, assisting with the upkeep and cleaning of the museum exhibits, and facilitating special programs.
Sign up to help with STEM Family Free Night, Sensory Friendly Nights, special celebration days, or our signature fundraising events. Volunteer opportunities are available in the museum and at off-site locations.
These volunteers help keep our facility clean, sanitized, and ready for playtime!
