Prepare your 3, 4, or 5-year-old for Kindergarten (or other formal learning settings) by practicing skills like sharing and taking turns. This drop-off program is the perfect opportunity for little ones to learn, explore, and develop skills they will use for years to come.
These camps are designed just for little ones! From creative play to exhibit exploration, all of our Kinder Camps provide opportunities for little ones to engage in hands-on learning and discovery in a safe and nurturing environment.
Take your child’s curiosity for technology past the screen with interactive projects and imaginative play! Tech Trek is designed for kids in 1st through 5th grade to introduce tech concepts and careers by exploring hands-on activities and unplugged challenges.
When school is out, it’s time to play! We offer summer camps as well as one-day camps during school breaks. With a variety of themes and activities, you are sure to find the perfect camp for your child.
Learn something new as a family! Family Workshops are the perfect guided learning experience for the whole family to have fun, make memories, and learn something new together.
Free ICM2Go events are the perfect fit for a day of outside fun! Come find our team at local parks, festivals, and community events.
Bring The Iowa Children’s Museum to you! We offer outreach programs throughout the year, covering a variety of topics. These museum-led experiences are perfect for schools, after-school clubs, libraries, daycares, and more.
At this time, we are not able to offer supervised play experiences before or after any of our programs.
Camps are for children in preschool through 5th grade (see individual camp details for more information). Kinder Club is for children ages 3, 4, or 5 who are toilet independent. Tech Trek is for children in 1st through 5th grade. Family workshops and other outreach opportunities are for everyone!
Registration for spring and summer camps typically opens in February each year. Registration for each camp closes when the camp capacity is reached or 3 days prior to the start of camp. We maintain waiting lists for all camps at capacity.
Most museum programs require advance registration to help us be as prepared as possible. Visit the page of the program you are interested in to learn more and sign up!
Our ratio of adults to children is one adult per six children.
Yes! Members of The Iowa Children’s Museum can enjoy 10% off camps and drop-off programs (Kinder Club and Tech Trek). Family workshops follow a pay-what-you-can model, so member discounts are not applicable.
If you cancel your registration at least two weeks prior to the start of the program, we will refund your tuition minus a 5% credit card processing fee. If you cancel your registration with less than two weeks notice, no refund or credit will be given unless it is a medical emergency.
The Iowa Children’s Museum reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes if minimum enrollment is not met. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations due to weather, but we will make every effort to schedule a make-up date for that session. For Kinder Club and Tech Trek, weather-related cancellations will follow the Iowa City Community School District
