Event Series: Art Play Sundays

Art Play Sundays

September 13   |   11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Creativity looks different every month in the Art Studio! Throughout the month, families can explore a featured artistic theme with special materials, collaborative projects, and hands-on activities. By focusing on a single material or technique, children are encouraged to think creatively, experiment, and discover just how many different ways one simple supply can be used. Then, on the second Sunday of the month, join our PLAYologists for an extra drop-in art activity inspired by the month’s theme. One material, endless possibilities!

September Theme: Lines, Shapes, and Colors

Inspired by Henri’s Scissors by Jeanette Winter, young artists can create colorful abstract masterpieces using painted paper, bold shapes, and vibrant colors. Explore the playful style of Henri Matisse by cutting, arranging, and layering paper into one-of-a-kind works of art.

Second Sunday Activity (September 13): Try creating art from a new perspective by painting and drawing from a distance using yardsticks, inspired by the techniques Matisse used later in his life.
