We’re here to support you in your mission as educators, and we look forward to partnering with you to inspire the next generation of thinkers, dreamers, and doers.
Our museum is not just a place for fun and play; it’s a hub for our five educational initiatives designed to inspire curiosity and lifelong learning. Whether you’re planning a field trip, exploring our outreach programs, or nominating someone for the Active Learning Award, we’re here to support you in nurturing young minds!
At the Iowa Children’s Museum, we understand the importance of hands-on learning. Our field trips offer students the chance to explore interactive exhibits, participate in engaging workshops, and make lasting memories. Our museum provides an ideal setting for field trips that combine fun and education, creating an enriching experience that aligns with your curriculum.
Can’t make it to the museum? No problem! Our outreach programs bring our talented educators and exciting activities to your classroom. We offer a range of programs tailored to your needs, making learning accessible and fun for your students without leaving your school.
Immerse first-grade students in an engaging blend of computer science and literacy! Led by qualified educators, this outreach program combines storytelling and hands-on STEM activities using Bee-Bot programmable robots and a fairy tale adventure. This museum-facilitated program is FREE and brought directly to your students thanks to support from the Bayer Foundation.
Every year, we open nominations for the Robert E. Yager Active Learning Award. This prestigious award celebrates educators who go above and beyond to create dynamic and engaging learning experiences for their students. Nominations are open to parents, fellow educators, administrators, and community members. Join us in recognizing and honoring dedicated individuals who inspire a love of learning!
Our museum strives to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for all. We offer elevators for easy access to the second floor, a Family Sanctuary for privacy and relaxation, wheelchair-accessible spaces throughout our exhibits, and a size-inclusive changing table. Additionally, we are a certified Sensory Inclusive™ location, offering resources like noise-reducing headphones and sensory items. We also offer social story resources and translated materials.
Play is an essential part of a child’s development. Explore our collection of resources, articles, and guides on the importance of play in early childhood education.
Be the first to know about upcoming events, programs, and ways we’re playing!
