Thank you for being a member of The Iowa Children’s Museum! Your membership is a gateway to imagine, create, discover and explore throughout the year. Learn more about how to access the full benefits of your membership below.

Don’t forget to stay in touch! We send updates to the email address associated with your membership on a regular basis, including information about your membership, early access to program registration, and other museum news. Please let us know if we should update our records with a new email address and be sure that news@theicm.org is not being filtered to your spam folder.

Note: Children’s Museum memberships and coupons cannot be applied to educational programs including field trips and birthday parties.  Memberships are nonrefundable and nontransferable.

How to login

Logging in to our Member Portal allows you to use the full benefits of your membership (reserve a play time for free, register for a program, etc.) To do so, click here and enter the username and password associated with your membership.

How to reset your password

Don’t know your username and/or password? Click the “Need help logging on?” link on the login page. This allows you to enter the email address associated with your membership to receive a password reset link and username information. Once you have a password, follow the login prompts to access your account.

Once you have logged in, you can go to “My Account” in the upper right to access your digital membership card, view the expiration date on your membership, and view other details about your account.

Renewing your membership

  • Log in to the Membership Portal system.  If you have not created a password yet, click Need Help Logging On?  This will email you a link to create a password.  
  • Select the membership level you would like.
  • Check to make sure contact info is correct for your membership, and that the adult and child members listed are correct.  Correct birthdates if needed.
  • If you would like to add a guest add-on, you can do so at the top of the page, where it says “Guest Member.”
    • If you selected to add a Guest Member, enter Guest as first name and Guest as last name.
  • Click Continue, and then Checkout
  • Enter your payment information, and Make Payment

Giving a membership

Giving a membership to another family or individual has never been easier! We now recommend that all gift memberships be processed as a digital gift card. This allows the receiving family/individual to start the 12-month membership at the time of their choice (rather than immediately).

  • Proceed to check-out and finalize your transaction.
  • All digital gift cards are sent to the email address you provide and can be printed from the comfort of your own home.
Association of Children’s Museum Reciprocal Network

The Iowa Children’s Museum is proud to be a part of the Association of Children’s Museums which serves as an advocate and resource for children’s museums around the country. Your Iowa Children’s Museum Membership entitles you to a 50% discount on all admissions, up to 6 people, at reciprocating children’s museums.

Frequently Asked Questions: Membership

How do I reserve tickets online?

All guests, including members, are asked to reserve their spaces online while we are limiting capacity. To reserve your free play session, visit our Tickets page and click “Buy Tickets Now” to view available play sessions. Once you have selected the day and time you wish to attend, click “Reserve” and then select the “Logon” button to access your member benefits. This will allow you to sign up for any available play sessions without being charged.

With online ticketing, do I have to pay to come play at the museum?

No. Members can still come play as often as they like for free. We simply ask that you reserve a play time on our Tickets page to help us maintain our new capacity limits.

When does my membership expire?

Memberships typically expire 12 months from the date of purchase. You can view the specific date that your membership expires by logging into the Membership Portal and clicking “My Account” in the upper right.

To make up for lost play time, all active members in March 2020 had 4 months added to their membership. Login to our Membership Portal to see if your membership was extended.

Was my membership extended during your closure (due to COVID-19 precautions)?

Memberships that were active in March 2020 have been extended four months.

Where can I find my membership card?

Membership cards are now virtual! To view your card, login to our Membership Portal and click “My Account” in the upper right to access your digital membership card. This digital card is acceptable for receiving discounts through the Association of Children’s Museum Reciprocal Network.

Are you hosting any Member-Only hours?

We are not currently offering any members-only hours, but our overall capacity has been significantly reduced to protect the health of everyone in our space. Come play any day that we’re open and you’re sure to have a great time!

How can I use my Annual Pass to purchase tickets?

Go to our ticketing page and select the date and time you would like to visit. Put one admission into your cart (either adult or child, depending on the pass holder). Log in to your account using the email address associated with your annual pass.  One admission will be free when you proceed to checkout.  If there are multiple annual pass holders in your group, please log in separately for each pass holder, and check out separately to receive each free admission.  Use the Need Help Logging On? function if you do not know your username or password.  You may register additional guests at the same time as an annual pass holder and pay regular admission for those guests.

How can I give someone else a membership?
