Join us on Saturday, September 14th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for NASA’s annual International Observe the Moon Night! International Observe the Moon Night is held when the Moon is around the first quarter ― a great phase for evening observing. Before the moon comes into view that night, join us for a day celebrating Earth’s beloved Moon to prep your kiddos for a great night of moon-gazing at home!
Throughout the day, our PLAYologists will facilitate special, hands-on activities centered around the Moon, our nearest celestial neighbor!
Explore the Solar System with ‘Hide and Seek Moon’- This fun, hands-on activity introduces young learners to scientific tools and cultural stories about the Moon. Kids use easy binoculars and a hidden Moon poster to see distant objects up close and enjoy the Moon Rope storybook to discover how different cultures interpret the Moon’s shapes.
Build a Moon Base Camp- Build your Moon base with this out-of-this-world activity! Use blocks, add survival stickers, and face lunar challenges inspired by NASA’s Artemis Mission.
Throughout the day, we will also be holding a giveaway for one of our fun, educational, space-themed ‘Play Packs.’ Activities are included with admission; they are free for members!
