We gave our Lights Out! exhibit a major glow up—and now it’s time to celebrate! This dark, sparkly, space-cave-inspired room is packed with updated activities, new creatures, and even more ways for kids to play with light and shadow. Come see what’s new and help us celebrate this reimagined space with some glowing fun!

Here’s what you can look forward to:

• Free giveaways while supplies last, including glow sticks, glow tattoos, and special items from MidAmerican Energy
• A Space Cave Explorer Guide to help you discover all the updates and new ways to play
• Comic-making fun in the Art Studio, inspired by the glowing cave creatures in the exhibit
• Special sing-alongs and storytimes featuring interactive “shine-a-light” books (Time TBD—stay tuned!)
• Before-and-after photos that show just how far the space has come

Playing with light and shadow may feel like pure fun, but it’s also a powerful way for kids to explore science, art, and creative thinking. As children move through the Lights Out! exhibit, they experiment with cause and effect, investigate how light travels, and create their own glowing stories. It’s a playful, hands-on way to learn about the world around them.
