Or build something you can crawl underneath? Let’s engineer with straws together!\nFiltered Light (June 30) – In “Filtered Light\,” participants discover how colored filters can help reveal more about an image. They can also make and study colorful images of their own.\nBuild a Moon Base Camp (July 7) – In this activity\, learners use familiar building blocks and are prompted to build a base for humans to live and work on the Moon.\n\nMore details about activities in the second half of the summer will be coming soon! Activities are included with admission; free for members! \nThis series is sponsored by the Alliant Energy Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:Join us this summer on Sunday afternoons for our Summer Spotlight series! From 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.\, our PLAYologists will facilitate special activities that take a closer look at educational concepts within our museum.  \nTopics will vary each week\, taking a closer look into each subject through fun hands-on activities!  \n\nWind Tube Exploration (June 16) – Explore the wonders of wind by engineering an object that can withstand our wind tunnel!\nStraw Connectors (June 23) – Can you build something as tall as you out of straws? Or build something you can crawl underneath? Let’s engineer with straws together!\nFiltered Light (June 30) – In “Filtered Light\,” participants discover how colored filters can help reveal more about an image. They can also make and study colorful images of their own.\nBuild a Moon Base Camp (July 7) – In this activity\, learners use familiar building blocks and are prompted to build a base for humans to live and work on the Moon.\n\nMore details about activities in the second half of the summer will be coming soon! Activities are included with admission; free for members! \nThis series is sponsored by the Alliant Energy Foundation.

SUMMARY:Tech Explorers Summer Camp (June 17 - 21) - SOLD OUT
DESCRIPTION:Technology is a part of our everyday lives. While today’s children are digital natives\, there are many tech concepts they must learn as schools adopt more computer science standards. Providing a fun\, informal introduction to tech concepts is a great way to help kids build these lifelong skills. In our tech camps\, we aren’t just staring at screens—instead\, we focus on applying tech concepts to real-world problems. When students engage with technology at their own pace\, in creative ways\, they have a safe space to fail\, try again\, and develop resilience while nurturing their curiosity. \nDuring Tech Explorers Summer Camp\, we will have fun with programmable robots\, 3d printing\, and other technology basics. We carefully create these workshops to suit children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade\, combining hands-on technologies and unplugged activities for a fun introduction to tech concepts.
