DESCRIPTION:We’re taking this no-school day to the moon! Just after a rare total lunar eclipse (more details below!)\, kids and families are invited to dig deeper into lunar science through hands-on play\, exploration\, and imagination. \nThroughout the morning\, our PLAYologists will lead interactive activities that help children learn how eclipses happen\, explore cultural stories about the Moon\, and discover how scientists are studying the lunar surface today. \nA space-themed scavenger hunt will be available all day. From 9 a.m. to noon\, PLAYologists will facilitate special\, hands-on activities: \n\nHide and Seek Moon: Use child-friendly binoculars\, visual tools\, and storytelling to learn how different cultures interpret the Moon’s changing shapes\nBuild a Moon Base Camp: Design a lunar habitat inspired by real-world space missions! Use blocks\, add survival stickers\, and face lunar challenges inspired by NASA’s Artemis Mission.\n\nAll activities are included with museum admission (free for members). Come ready to play\, build\, and discover what makes our closest celestial neighbor so fascinating! \nAbout Eclipses: There are two types of eclipses: lunar and solar. During a lunar eclipse\, Earth’s shadow obscures the Moon. During a solar eclipse\, the Moon blocks the Sun from view. On March 3rd\, there will be a total lunar eclipse known as a “Blood Moon.” Prep your kids by observing it the night before\, and then come in the next day to learn how NASA is exploring the lunar surface. \nPlease note: Activities from 9-10 a.m. are available during our Member-Only Hours. We open to the public at 10:00 a.m. and invite all learners to join us from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:The Playdough Dentist is in! Every Friday in February\, families can drop in to mold\, squish\, and imagine with our Dr. Drill n’ Fill playdough sets. Kids can explore dental tools\, practice pretend checkups\, and learn about healthy smiles through playful\, hands-on fun. This recurring activity is part of our Children’s Dental Month celebration\, made possible by Children’s Dental Center. \nAlso happening all month long:February is full of ways to celebrate Children’s Dental Health Month at the museum\, including daily dental health-themed play\, healthy smile giveaways\, chances to win with the Children’s Dental Center Brushing Chart\, and a special opportunity to meet Bluey. Special thanks to the Children’s Dental Center for making these activities possible!

Admission is free during Sensory Friendly Night\, thanks to our friends at GreenState Credit Union. \nWe understand that the museum can be a bustling place. During Sensory Friendly Night\, we provide adjusted sound levels and limit attendance to create a calmer environment. Families can explore the museum at their own pace. As always\, we have KultureCity Sensory Inclusive™ signage to help you navigate exhibits and sensory bags available for checkout at the front desk. Our Family Sanctuary is also available for guest use at any time. \nJoin us for a fun evening and let your child explore and learn in a comfortable and supportive environment! \n
