Craft your own snowflakes using origami paper\, cardstock\, and other materials\, then bring them to life on our shadow screen. Explore how light passes through\, bounces off\, or is blocked by your creations while experimenting with color and shape. \n1/2 – Make & Mural for the Year of the Horse: Let’s get ready to welcome the Lunar New Year with creativity! In this art studio session\, families will help the museum prepare for our upcoming Lunar New Year celebration with the Midwest Chinese Academy on February 17. Create your own horse-themed craft to take home\, then add your artistic touch to a collaborative mural that will become part of the celebration’s festive backdrop.

Join us on Wednesday\, December 31st\, as we celebrate 2026 arriving across the world with hourly countdowns. \nCountdowns will take place at 10 AM\, 11 AM\, 12 PM\, 1 PM\, 2 PM\, 3 PM\, and shortly before 4 PM. Noisemakers\, balloons\, and other celebratory items will be available for a museum-wide countdown over our speaker system. While you play\, you can also create your own party hat\, take a selfie in our photo station\, and complete a countdown scavenger hunt. \nNew: When midnight arrives in China (at 10 AM Central Time)\, our friends from the Midwest Chinese Academy will join us to teach children basic Chinese words and phrases! \nAll activities are included with regular museum admission. FREE for members! \nThe museum will close after our last countdown at 4:00 PM. We are also open on New Year’s Day. \nThis event is made possible thanks to our friends at GreenState Credit Union.
