These playful new pals are here to help everyone have a great time in The Iowa Children’s Museum by showing us how to Be Safe\, Be Kind\, and Be Gentle while we play. \nKids can make their own Norm button\, color their favorite turtle\, join special sing-alongs\, and even take home a Pete & the Norms sticker sheet (free for the first 100 guests). During this special day\, you’ll also spot Norm Challenge Stations throughout the museum that highlight the best ways to play in each space. \nSticker giveaway will begin at 10 a.m. (while supplies last). All other activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.\, with the sing-along at approximately 1:30 p.m. \nCome celebrate our turtle trio and learn what it means to follow The Norms! This special event will introduce children to the many ways they can engage in their community and make their voices heard. From voting in a mock election to hands-on activities in our Art Studio\, kids will be introduced to important civic values related to Voting\, Opportunity\, Involvement\, Community\, and Engagement. \nThroughout the day\, children can cast their votes for our playful puppet candidates—Pete and George—or write in their own choice\, all while learning about the democratic process in a fun\, interactive way. Be sure to grab your voter button after casting your ballot and keep an eye out for our candidates as they campaign for votes! \nThe results of this year’s election will determine what dress-up day we will hold during winter break. Help your child discover the many ways they can use their VOICE to shape their world! \nPlease note that this is a mock election for educational purposes\, and The Iowa Children’s Museum is not a registered polling place. This event is designed for families with members who experience sensory sensitivities\, are on the autism spectrum\, or who have any health needs that would make a quieter visit more enjoyable. Admission is free during Sensory Friendly Night\, thanks to our friends at GreenState Credit Union. \nWe understand that the museum can be a bustling place. During Sensory Friendly Night\, we provide adjusted sound levels and limit attendance to create a calmer environment. Families can explore the museum at their own pace. As always\, we have KultureCity Sensory Inclusive™ signage to help you navigate exhibits and sensory bags available for checkout at the front desk. Our Family Sanctuary is also available for guest use at any time. \nJoin us for a fun evening and let your child explore and learn in a comfortable and supportive environment! \n
